Current Job Openings

  1. HVAC Technician

We’re looking for a different kind of technician — do you have what it takes?

You don’t need to be the best technician. You don’t even need experience. We’ll train the right person to do things our way.

Here’s the thing. There are a lot of great technicians out there – people who are very skilled when it comes to working on equipment. They can make a fast diagnosis and a great repair and run a dozen calls a day. You may be one of those people. That “expert” technician can be hard to find but they’re not necessarily the people we’re looking for.

At Total Comfort, we’re more interested in your people skills than in your technical skills. That doesn’t mean we don’t want great technicians – we do. But our great technicians need to be even greater communicators. Our whole company is built around our ability to clearly communicate what we do, how we do it and how we can help our clients be more comfortable and healthy. If you don’t consider yourself a great communicator, you can probably stop reading here.

A technician at Total Comfort has to be ready, willing and able to educate our clients and recommend solutions to their problems that go beyond a simple filter change or coil cleaning. In simple terms, you have to SELL. You have to sell yourself, our company and our products and services. If you’re not comfortable “selling”, you won’t fit in here. Like any company, we won’t succeed without revenue and our technicians are our field sales force.

If you like selling, or talking to people, this could be the perfect job for you. That’s true even if you don’t consider yourself to be a “great” technician. That’s because we’ll train you and mentor you. We don’t expect you to know everything – even if you have experience in the field. We don’t mind when you call for help and advice. Some companies consider that a weakness – we don’t. We’re glad to assist you at any time.

There are a lot of great reasons to work at Total Comfort. In addition guaranteeing you full-time, year ‘round work, you’ll be eligible to receive a nice service vehicle, monthly bonuses, paid training and more. Our facility is first class and our people are the best in the industry.

If you think you’d fit in, send us a resume or fill out our online application. We’re eager to talk with you.

  2. HVAC Installer

Join the top installation crew in the Twin Cities – no experience necessary.

We’re looking for people who want to do more than just bend metal. Express yourself and impress our clients with your quality and creativity.

At Total Comfort, our installation team is the driving force behind our company’s success. They enable us to solve any HVAC problem our clients may have. We ask a lot of our installation technicians because they’re in a unique position to directly influence the health, comfort and safety of our clients.

Most service companies use installation techs for specific jobs. At our company, you’ll be asked to do everything there is to do from an installation standpoint. You’ll do sheet metal, black pipe, high and low voltage wiring, flue pipe, chimney liners, accessories like zoning systems, humidifiers and air exchangers. You’ll be expected to do start ups too.

We need people who want to take charge and get the job done. You’ll be in a position to make decisions and use your creative talents to overcome challenges that regular installers just can’t handle. We want craftsman, artisans, experts who take pride in their work and do it right the first time.

If you have no experience but feel you could excel in this field, we’d like to talk with you. We have a training program for apprentices that will get you on the fast-track to a career in HVAC. If you’re an experienced installation technician and want to join the premier installation team in the state, apply today.

  3. HVAC Installation Apprentice(see description for “HVAC Installer”)
  4. Sales

Have you got the guts to do what no one else will?

The sky’s the limit for a sales professional who’s willing to put in the effort. You bring your sales skills; we’ll teach you the product.

In the HVAC business (heating, ventilation, air conditioning), it’s easy to find someone who can sell boxes. The industry is loaded with people who want to sell replacement equipment – often for all the wrong reasons.

We don’t sell boxes. We sell comfort. Because of that, the potential is unlimited. The homes and businesses in this area are in desperate need of comfort solutions. Your job would be to educate those home and business owners about alternative solutions to their comfort, safety and efficiency issues. We have a host of products and services that go way beyond the usual equipment change out that other companies recommend. We’re not the cheapest company in town so you need to be able to sell the value of our line.

We’re actually in need of 2 sales consultants - one for residential heating/air/comfort systems, the other for light commercial. Experience in the HVAC industry is a plus, but it’s not required. We’ll teach the right person. In fact, you’ll work directly with the company president who will mentor you and help get you started in the right direction. He’ll also help you put together and close deals whenever needed.

We believe in consultative sales – it’s how we’ve always done business. We’re not looking for a fast-talking schmoozer. This job requires you to listen and uncover the real needs of our clients, then offer them solutions to fit those needs.

Here’s what we really look for in our consultants:

    • Someone who will pound the pavement and get out and solicit their own leads
    • Someone who doesn’t make excuses
    • Someone who will up sell
    • Ideally someone with experience in other in-home sales
    • Someone who will take notes and refer to them
    • Someone who’s willing to be taught – and eager to follow direction
    • Someone who will network consistently
    • Someone who’s a listener, not a talker

Now, unless you have a lot of experience in the field you probably won’t see a lot of money for the first 30-60 days. It will take at least that long to get up to speed and learn about all our products. Of course, if you’re good, the money you make down the road will easily make up for the time you’re training. We’ll pay you a small base, and a substantial commission. You’ll also get a car allowance.

If you’ve got the drive, we’ll do everything we can to make you successful. Apply today for immediate consideration.

  5. Administrative Assistant/Sales Support

Want to get ahead and make a real difference at your workplace? You’ve just stumbled upon the perfect job.

Our exciting service company has a unique role for someone with the right drive and desire.

Total Comfort is not just another place to work. If you want a job where you can disappear into the anonymity of your cubicle, you should keep searching. We’re looking for someone who wants to stand out. Someone who wants responsibility. Someone who will come in early or stays late when necessary. Someone who will come to work feeling as if they own the company – and act the same way.

Right now we need someone who can perform the tasks required of an Administrative Assistant, and also fulfill the role of our Sales Coordinator. This dual assignment requires a special type of person – one who is extremely organized and detail oriented, as well as being outgoing and comfortable dealing with people.

These are just some of the tasks you’ll be asked to handle:

    • Answer and screen calls for the company president
    • Organize documents and files
    • Prepare professional letters – shorthand skills helpful
    • Write sales proposals
    • Schedule calls for sales department
    • Manage calendars for president and 2 or 3 others
    • Write sales orders
    • Process financing paperwork
    • Calculate/process commissions
    • Answer sales calls when necessary and qualify sales prospects
    • Back up the service department by taking service calls during peak times
    • Administer marketing campaigns – direct mail, printing, fulfillment

Obviously you’ll need to be able to write and communicate effectively. If you can’t spell well or construct a proper sentence, you probably won’t be a good fit. If you don’t like dealing with people, it’s probably not the right job for you. The person that takes this position should also be comfortable with a computer and adept at using MS Word and Excel.

There’s one more thing that’s really important to us – reliability. If you’re the kind of person who calls in sick a lot, or you’re terminally late, we can’t use you. We have to know you’ll be here everyday. Having said that, we also know everyone has a life away from the office so we try to be very flexible with your schedule. We understand that unexpected things happen and sometimes you just have to take care of a problem away from the office during regular business hours.

Our company has a lot to offer. Your career path is wide open. You can take this job wherever you want to go. Our people are top-notch and friendly. We have a lot of fun and we provide some great benefits. Contact us right away to be considered for this position.
