Heat Pumps

If you’re looking for great year-round performance in total home comfort, a heat pump may be the answer. That is because heat pumps provide both heating and cooling for your home. A heat pump is essentially a central air conditioning system that can warm your home during times of cooler temperatures.

During the winter months, a heat pump extracts the heat that’s present in the air outside of your home and brings it into your home to keep you comfortable and warm. During the hot summer months, heat pumps reverse this process by pulling the heat out of your home’s air and releasing it outside to keep you cool and dry while inside. A heat pump is an economical and efficient way to both heat and cool your home.

A typical heat pump installation will involve two parts: an outdoor component and an indoor component. The outdoor unit is very similar to a central air conditioner (in looks and size). The indoor unit is called an air handler and looks exactly like a standard gas furnace.

Heat pumps are so economical because they only have to move heat rather than making it. Unlike a furnace that requires fossil fuel or electricity to generate heat, a heat pump simply gathers heat that already exists and pumps it into your home.
