Heating-Ventilation-Air Conditioning Components
Many people are only vaguely aware of Air Quality equipment and their value to a comfortable home.
In this section we'll briefly explain the main components of your system.
Heating & Cooling
For the sake of simplicity, we'll concentrate on a typical residential "split system" with gas heat. That's what's found in about 90% of the homes in this part of the country. It's called a split system because it's split into three parts. There is the indoor section, the outdoor section (some systems called "package" units are self-contained) and the refrigerant lines. The outdoor section is called your condensing unit. The indoor section is comprised of a furnace and an evaporator coil. The refrigerant lines (commonly referred to as "Freon" lines - "Freon" is a brand name of refrigerant) connect the two other sections.
Indoor Air Quality Solutions
What do you think of when you hear the term "Indoor Air Quality?" Some are reminded of old buildings that make people sick. That falls in line with a new term, "Indoor Air Pollution." Other people think of those little ionizing machines. Those little gadgets are just gadgets, and they do not affect the entire indoor environment.
There are various comfort control systems and indoor air quality solutions. Many homeowners are only vaguely aware of the types of Indoor Air Quality equipment and their value to a comfortable home. This section includes information on Air Filtration, Air Purifiers, and Air Exchangers.
