Once again the total Comfort crew worked harder than 20 men and a boy, definitely going the "extra mile." One of them told me your goal is to leave a site the same or better than it was, as I saw him vacuuming my living room floor.

The first big project I had Total Comfort do was remove my 40-year old furnace and water heater, replacing them with modern versions in 2002. Can you imagine hoisting that rusty old water heater, still full of water up 13 stairs? They worked into the night until the job was done in one day – naturally "Old Bessie" decided to break down in January and we would have frozen had they not worked straight through. At the time I had a terminally ill husband and little Pug dog I was worried about, and someone in the crew even called me at work during the day to tell me they were both okay, not too cold.

The only thing I missed this time was hearing Piotr growl a time or two. This job must have been easier! Thanks to Steve and Piotr and everyone else. I don't know the names of the other and don't want to leave anyone out. A special thanks for hauling all the "stuff" out of my house. Now I can start getting my house in order. You're all wonderful.

I just wanted to say thank you for the excellent job on the engineering, installation, final balance and operation of the new furnace, 2 new air conditioners and the new water heaters.

I once again made the correct choice to have Total Comfort install my new heating and cooling system as I had these units install in a previous home about 8 years ago with the same high level of satisfaction.

I have waited to send this thank you as I wanted a little time to go by to be certain all went well. I have received the rebates as you said I would, and I had one small problem with a water sensor switch in a catch pan and your company responded immediately to replace it and all is working perfectly to date, and I fully expect all the items to work that way for a very long time.

Thank you for your excellent help and be sure to pass on my thanks to all the installation engineers as the job was completed in a very professional and tidy, and courteous on the part of all your workmen.

Thanks to John Anderson for recommending a new furnace and water heater – also to Scott Horn for the information about the procedure. Most of all special thanks to Ali and Dtik (his brother) who were most helpful, polite and very neat with the procedures. Ali answered all my questions so that I feel secure with my new furnace, etc.

Description of Work:

Total Comfort installed a new furnace, air conditioner, and humidifier. They did a number of upgrades to improve the quality and safety of the system *surge protector on the furnace, new ducting for outside air – that meets current code, new double wall pipes, etc.) rather than just connecting up to what was there. I have had Total Comfort for years for maintenance and they have noted several things that were wearing and could be suspect to the 16-year old system's longevity. Because of this, I was not entirely surprised when my air conditioner "died" last week. Although the price is a large amount, I feel I easily got my money's worth in the warranties (very long), the discounts, the energy rebate, and in the energy savings going forward. I was very pleased when Steve came by the second installation day to see how everything was going - this is quality service.

Comments:

The repair person came out on a Thursday, determined what the problem was, gave me options and I decided to replace my 16-year old system. He then got the sales person out same day. Steve was here over three hours answering my questions and explaining what/why and options (a great experience). The installers (Ali/Driss) came that Thursday and had the air conditioner up and running before they left (which they said they would when they came). They arrived when Steve said they would, called ahead to let me know they were coming, trucks were easily identifiable as Total Comfort, they removed their shoes, put tarps down, were extremely pleasant, cleaned up when finished and answered many questions. They told me when they came Tuesday morning they would have to return a 2nd day to finish. They returned the following Monday (my choice of day) and did the duct work and got the furnace/humidifier up and running. They were excellent service people - knew what they were doing. The A/C is reducing humidity and evening the temp in the house.

We would like to share our experience with you. We were fortunate to find your website that gave us an unexpected lesson on what to look for and the important questions to ask when looking for a HVAC contractor. We certainly appreciated the information that was so informative and valuable during the estimate process.

We applied your standards to all of the bids that we received and had no problem choosing Total Comfort to do the work.

The furnace and air conditioner installation was done in a professional and timely manor. Everything was completed as agreed and to our satisfaction.

We purchased a high efficiency furnace. It runs constantly circulating the air in our home at all times. We were skeptical at first when we were told of this new system. We have been suing the new furnace since Thanksgiving and we cannot believe what a difference it has made in the air quality of our home! We were constantly using air fresheners due to the previous owners being smokers. We no longer smell stale air when we return after being gone for a few hours, just fresh clean air. We also added a humidifier system to the furnace. It is so convenient not to have to constantly fill and clean the portable units that we have always used in the past! The best part came over the holidays. We have 4 cats and my son rarely came to visit due to his allergies to them. When he came for the holidays this year he only sneezed once during the time he was here! His eyes didn't water and he was more comfortable and was able to stay longer than he had been able to do before. We believe that this system has made some very positive improvements in our health and our home. We would recommend Total Comfort to anyone that is looking to improve their heating and cooling systems.

Hi Steve:

I wanted to again thank you and your colleagues for a great job on our new systems for the house. Everything is working flawlessly and the house is wonderfully balanced.

As you know, we just experienced the warmest days of this summer season and going into it I was concerned. However, the home stayed very comfortable on all three levels and the AC had capacity to spare.

In the winter, the entire house is far more comfortable and the humidity control works so well that the grand piano is much happier, even in the dead of winter.

Your guys stayed with it until we were satisfied, and we very much appreciate your work.

Now that the A/C "season" is almost (if not officially) over, I just wanted to send a note and tell you how fantastic our Trane and Spacepak A/C system works. To be honest, it performs far better than I expected on even the hottest days! Regardless of whether it was 70 degrees and muggy or 100 degrees and muggy, our whole house was always very comfortable. I can't say enough about how it improved our quality of life on the hottest summer days (and nights).

In addition, to my amazement, running the system through my whole house for almost a month without turning it off, my highest utility bill was lower than in previous summers running just 2 window units for 2 weeks.

I'd like to thank everyone who worked on our system, from you to Randy to the guys stringing hoses throughout the house. Everyone involved did just a great job in all respects.

Dear Sir:
This letter is to commend one of your employees, Trent, for the excellent service and help he gave me. I am continuing to recover from a broken leg, but at the time he responded to my call, it was impossible for me to put any weight on one leg.

Trent came to my home on July 7 when the refrigerator was not functioning and the food had spoiled. He installed a new part that would allow the refrigerator to start up again after it had stopped.

But again on July 25 the refrigerator stopped once again and the food spoiled. This time he found the compressor was the problem and because the appliance was under warranty, I needed to wait for an Amana repairperson to install a new compressor. He refunded the new part that I had purchased earlier.

What was extraordinary about Trent's service was that he helped me by removing the spoiled food and taking it downstairs and he put much of the salvageable food in that refrigerator. All of this help meant a great deal to me at this time when I was alone and incapacitated.

As a customer, I will remember this always. I have also told my friends about this crisis and the help Trent gave me.

... well after 30 years of service for the IBM Corporation in downtown Chicago, working day and night, every holiday and weekends fixing computers, I figured the days of great service was over, I was wrong. Your company is right on target. I was on site during the heater installation, 2 hard working guys couldn't stop them long enough for a cup of coffee or a can of soda. A quality job from A to Z. Then came the post installation inspection, unheard of today.

... I have one question for you, where do you find these people?
Each one of your representatives that I had contact with was super. They are the most polite, considerate, customer service oriented people I have ever met. Did I mention hard working?

Jim B. made several trips to my house, first to diagnose the trouble I was having with my old system and next to help me decide on a new system. Randy & Bob came out to my house the very next day and had the house cool before they left. I think they left the utility room cleaner than they found it. They also made me laugh once or twice. What a team! Melanie coordinated everything over the telephone. Is she ever not in a good mood?

... I am writing this letter to appraise you of the excellent job by two of your employee's, Rob & Ali at my residence

After receiving unsatisfactory work by (another HVAC company), your company was called by them to make the necessary repairs. After Rob and Ali inspected the problem they were very thorough in explaining what needed to be done and also pointed out what a poor job (this other company) had done.

The replacement of the vent pipe was no easy job having to work in very tight limited areas.

Rob and Ali were very courteous and took good measures of protecting their work areas where falling debris would occur to prevent any damage and mess to carpet, walls etc. After they had finished their work they cleaned and inspected their job.

This good old fashion service of taking the extra step of being thorough is hard to find anymore and I applaud Rob, Ali and your company.

I will highly recommend your company to others.
